The idea
What is the Farflung game?
The Farflung game is a geography quiz where every prompt has many right answers and the score depends on how unusual yours is. Germany, Spain and Italy all border France, but so many players reach for them that they only move you a short way. Andorra and Monaco border France too — and far fewer people think of them.
That twist makes Farflung different from guess-the-country games such as Worldle or Globle, where there is one hidden answer. Here you already know plenty of valid answers; the skill is recalling the corners of the map other players forget — microstates, island nations and countries tucked behind a border.
This site runs its own Farflung game with a daily expedition that is the same for everyone, an unlimited mode for practice, and a map that names every country as you hover. It also publishes spoiler-safe Farflung answers for the official daily game at farflung.game.
Example prompt
Pin a country that borders France
- Postcard · 20Germany — the neighbour everyone names first
- Detour · 40Switzerland — right, but a step off the obvious
- Backroad · 60Luxembourg — small and often forgotten
- Farflung · 100Andorra — a Pyrenean microstate few players recall
- Miss · 0United Kingdom — the Channel Tunnel is not a land border
Step by step
How to play the Farflung game
- 1
Read the prompt
Each expedition has five prompts such as “Pin a country that borders France”. Read the whole line: the qualifier decides which countries count.
- 2
Find a country
Tap a country on the world map, or type its name in the search box. Pinch, scroll or use the + and − buttons to zoom in on small states.
- 3
Drop your pin
Press “Drop pin”. You get one pin per prompt, so pick the answer you are sure of — or gamble on a rarer one.
- 4
See how far it took you
Every valid country lights up in its rarity colour. A correct pin earns 20 to 100 km depending on how few people would think of it; a wrong pin earns nothing.
- 5
Finish and share
After five prompts you see your total out of 500 km. Share the emoji summary, then come back tomorrow or keep going in Unlimited.

Scoring
Farflung game scoring: why rarer answers travel further
In this Farflung game every correct pin earns between 20 and 100 km, and a wrong pin or an empty clock earns zero. Five Farflung-tier answers add up to the 500 km maximum.
Tiers are relative to each prompt. A famous country can be a Postcard answer for one prompt and not a valid answer at all for the next — so always check that a rare idea actually fits before you drop the pin.

Farflung answers for the official daily game

Questions
Farflung game FAQ
What is the Farflung game?
+
Farflung is a daily geography game played on a world map. Each day you answer five prompts by pinning one country for each. Any country that fits counts, but rarer answers carry you further, so the challenge is finding the correct answer that few other players would pick.
Is this the official Farflung game?
+
No. farflunggame.online is an independent fan site with its own prompts, its own daily expedition and an unlimited mode. The original game is made by Farflung LLC at farflung.game. Our answers page covers the official daily expedition for players who get stuck.
How do I play the Farflung game on my phone?
+
Open this page in any mobile browser — there is nothing to install. Tap a country to select it, pinch to zoom, and use the search box for tiny countries such as Vatican City or Nauru. The timer pauses if you switch apps.
When does the daily Farflung expedition reset?
+
A new expedition starts at midnight in your own time zone, and the countdown on the results screen shows exactly how long is left. Your progress and streak are saved in your browser, so you can close the tab mid-game and continue later.
How is rarity decided in this Farflung game?
+
Each valid answer gets one of five tiers, from Postcard (20 km) to Farflung (100 km). Until enough players have pinned each prompt, the order is estimated from how prominent each country is — population, economy and size — because the best-known countries come to mind first.
Can I play more than one Farflung game a day?
+
Yes. The daily expedition is one game a day, the same for everyone. Farflung Unlimited deals a fresh set of five prompts whenever you want, with the same scoring, so you can practise as much as you like.
